The purpose of the Capaccio Paestum based EVO IOOC - EVO International Olive Oil Contest, International Olive Oil Competition Capaccio Paestum held in May, is to promote and enhance the high quality of the extra virgin olive oil industry.
The Contest, organized by Antonio G. Lauro and VINAR SA Argentina, with the collaboration of Associazione Oleum, Voglia di Viaggiare Eventi, with the patronage of the Municipal Administration of Capaccio Paestum, aims to promote the connection between extra virgin olive oil and a healthy diet and good nutritional habits as well as providing information on its health advantages for consumers.
The aims of EVO IOOC - EVO International Olive Oil Contest, International Olive Oil Competition Capaccio Paestum are the following:
- award the extra virgin olive oils from all over the world entered in the contest;
- promote among consumers the benefits of extra virgin olive oil in a healthy diet;
- internationally promote the exceptional qualities of extra virgin olive oil produced in various countries;
- promote and give greater visibility to the extra virgin olive oil market in Italy, in the Mediterranean area as well as in the rest of the world;
- explain the advantages of the use of extra virgin olive oil in the Mediterranean diet;
- promote the winning producers among buyers, consumers, international markets and in the various media;
- increase the consumption of high quality extra virgin olive oil internationally.

Antonio Giuseppe Lauro, graduated as agronomist, is an international olive oil consultant, educator, journalist and panel leader; assessor of extra virgin olive oil quality since 1995 and an International panel leader since 2003 in compliance with IOC rules.
An agronomist and olive sector expert for the ARSAC Calabria (extension service), he has participated in many national and international projects related to olive oil production and quality control.
Since 2003 Dr. Lauro has been teaching courses for professional tasters of olive oil in accordance with IOC/EU laws and was professor in several master courses (national and international).
Lauro has written, such as co-author, numerous publications (books, guides, catalogs, etc.) on the extra virgin olive oil sector.
Lauro, invited speaker in most important olive oil conferences in many venues, has conducted olive oil seminars and tasting sessions in many countries around the world, including Italy and other EU members (Greece, Spain, United Kingdom), Argentina, Azerbaijan, Israel, Japan, Norway, South Africa, Turkey, USA. He is instructor in the International Olive Oil School for "Olive Oil Sommelier" in New York and California (Olive Oil Times Education Lab New York & International Culinary Center) and instructor in a Sensory Assessment of EVOOs and Blending courses (Italy, Greece, Israel, South America).
Antonio Giuseppe is President and Panel Leader of the International jury for EVO IOOC International Olive Oil Contest - Italy (ex D-IOOC) since the first edition (2016) and founder of Regional panel Prim’Olio, recognized – from 2012 - by the Agricultural Ministry of Italy.
He is also Panel Leader of the International jury for TerraOlivo Jerusalem (Israel) since the first edition (2010 – present), Panel Leader of NYIOOC - New York Word Olive Oil Competition (2014 - present), Panel Leader of OLIVINUS Mendoza (2012 - present), and juror of JOOP International Olive Oil Prize Tokyo (2018 - present). Was Panel Leader and judge in OLIVE JAPAN (Tokyo 2013/2014/2016), and Athena IOOC - Greece (2016/2017/2018).
Lauro is panel leader of COOC (Cretian Olive Oil Competition 2016 - present), and was panel leader of SA Olive Award (South Africa O.O. Competition 2016) and member of the international jury of 2012 Extrascape (Italy).
Cooperates on world ranking of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO World Ranking - www.evooworldranking.org), created to promote the best EVOO in the world.
Dr. Lauro was panel leader of the national competition Sirena d'Oro di Sorrento (2017) and member of the jury of the regional selection Concorso Nazionale Ercole Olivario, Premio BIOL International organic olive oil competition, Premio Oleum Olivarum; Premio Giulio Verga, Member of the National Jury Concorso Nazionale Ercole Olivario (2005 & 2013) and a frequent panel Leader and member of regional olive oil competitions since 1995.

General coordinator for samples in wine, liquor, and olive oil contests, He has acted as international judge for wines and liquors since 1997. At the moment he is one of the busiest general coordinators for samples (olive oil, wines and liquors) in the world and has served as co-director of 155 International Wine Contests and 28 International Olive Oil Contests.
